Blizzard – Diablo 4 publisher released Patch 1.1.0 for Diablo IV on July 18. Since then, they’ve gotten helpful input from the community on the modifications they’ve made. They also used our Season of the Malignant Campfire Chat on July 21 to specifically address that feedback.

Game director Joe Shely, associate game director Joseph Piepiora, and associate director of community Adam Fletcher explained why the changes in Patch 1.1.0 were made, what they hoped to achieve with those changes, and the steps they are employing to ensure they never implement a patch like that again. If you want to see the entire webcast, check out their video below.

Mission Statements for Diablo IV’s Live Service:

  • Keep the game enjoyable for the players.
  • Have a large number of feasible constructions to find, assemble, and optimize across all five classes.
  • Every season, add new goods and powers to keep the game fresh and boost build variation.
  • Continue to enhance the endgame, with high monster density for powerful builds to mow down and activities that test your build’s abilities.
  • When implementing modifications to promote build diversity, we will allow some builds to be powerful until convincing alternatives are given.
  • Introduce meta adjustments at predictable periods, such as the start of a Season.
  • Respond immediately to game-breaking bugs, damage, or crashes.

Why they published Patch 1.1.0 and what they want to accomplish:

  • Diablo IV was always intended to be a limited-power experience rather than an eternal slog. They understand that increasing your character’s strength is an important part of the pleasure of Diablo and that taking away power feels horrible.
  • So, why did they release Patch 1.1.0? Their objective is for several builds to be powerful enough to fight our most difficult opponents, such as Uber Lillith: one build should not be the only way to play a class. To solve this issue, certain modifications were made in this patch.
  • Blizzard also recognizes that Nightmare Dungeons are now far too difficult – they should seem approachable with numerous builds, and high-level tiers (above Tier 50) are particularly geared toward difficulty. Patch 1.1.0 marked the beginning of the adjustments required to map against the changes being made to Nightmare Dungeons, which will be hot-fixed today!
  • How they are dealing with issues, and why and how our approach to patching may alter in the future:

When it comes to balancing, they will adopt a more surgical approach in the future. They will guarantee that if we make an overpowering change, they will present compelling options for people to explore for their class instead. They will improve communication by publishing patch notes at least a week before launch to allow for meaningful interactions with our community.

Regarding Patch 1.1.1:Malignant Campfire Chat

  • They will release a Hotfix today that will make modifications to Nightmare Dungeons that correspond to some of the balancing changes made in 1.1.0.
  • They will be introducing Nightmare Dungeons tuning tweaks to go along with the class modifications included in 1.1.0.
  • Barbarians and Sorcerers, with Sorcerer coming first, will have Legendary Aspects tweaked in Patch 1.1.1.
  • Monster density will be significantly boosted in both Nightmare Dungeons and Helltide.
  • As the size of the Elixir Stack rises, they will add another stash tab.
  • They will cut the cost of Gold respec by 40%.
  • They aim to speed up the leveling process from 50 to 100 and are considering raising XP benefits for playing on higher World Tiers.
