Kamisato Ayato is finally coming to Genshin Impact. The older brother of Ayaka and the head of the Yashiro Commission has been revealed — here’s what we know about release date, abilities, lore, and more.

After months of rumors, Ayato is finally going to be released in Genshin Impact. There’s been leaks of his existence for what feels like forever, and now it’s just a matter of time as to when miHoYo finally announces everything.
At least now he has a face thanks to the Version 2.5 live stream.

Ayato release date in Genshin Impact
Ayato doesn’t have a set release date in Genshin Impact yet, but given the drip marketing has begun, a release in Version 2.6 isn’t farfetch.
That update is prime to launch in March 2022 — after all there’s still 2.5 to get through first. More details about Ayato will be revealed in the weeks leading up to the update’s launch though.
Ayato abilities in Genshin Impact
Kamisato Ayato is a Hydro character that is committe to maintaining prosperity and stability in the Inazuma region. He also appears to wield a one-handed katana, which would suggest he is a Sword user.
The combination of Hydro attacks would mesh nicely with Ayaka’s Cryo Sword for some big freeze combos.
However, one of the NPCs in-game, Nobumori, suggests Ayato is proficient with both a sword and polearm, leading to suggestions he could change forms. This is all just speculation though, and nothing solid is in place.
What we do have though is our first few images of Ayato. On top of his official splash, a leaked photo of him from the Genshin Impact anime teaser has also circulated online.
Ayato weapon in Genshin Impact
While Ayato will be Hydro, his exact weapon type is unknown. As he is still in early development, it could be change.
Here will be a five-star though with his own story quest, so also expect him to get his own special weapon banner too when he eventually drops.
Ayato’s story in Genshin Impact
Ayato is the head of the Kamisato clan, which makes him one of the most powerful people in Inazuma. With the Kamisato clan controlling the Yashiro Commission, the organization tasked with managing cultural events in the region, being the head is no joke.
His sister, Kamisato Ayaka, also helps with the commission’s affairs. There are some references to him in the voice lines of both Ayaka and Raiden Shogun, however, he hasn’t made any public appearances in Inazuma — yet.
